About the Event

This four-day workshop is hosted by Trail Mixed and organized by Climbers of Color. This is a preparatory course to prepare leaders and team members for mountaineering expeditions on PNW volcanoes like Tahoma (Rainier) and Koma Kulshan (Baker). The course will take place on the slopes of Koma Kulshan (Mt Baker) and will cover expedition camping, glacier travel, crevasse rescue, and group management on glaciated terrain. This will be the first course of its kind, with a student and instructor group of only womxn of color.

Trail Mixed is a collective focused on increase the diversity of women in outdoor sports through community, education and training, accessibility, and mentorship. This course is largely sponsored by Black Diamond, a superior brand dedicated to designing and constructing the world's best climbing, skiing & mountain gear, and helping make scholarships available.

Our 3 course instructors are highly experienced and talented womxn of color: Dawa Yangzum Sherpa - the first woman to become an International Mountain Guide from Nepal with summits of K2, Everest and many more, Mariko Ching - a seasoned mountaineer and cofounder of Climbers of Color, and Theresa Silveyra - a seasoned mountaineer and known for her 30 summits of Mt Hood before turning 30.

Tuition: Sliding Scale $900-$1100 with partial scholarships available
