Trail Mixed Leaders

Trail Mixed Collective is seeking enthusiastic women of color (cis, non-binary, and transwomen) in the greater Seattle area and in the  greater Portland area who love outdoor sports and activities, are energized about building a stronger community of WoC outdoors, and excited to take on a leadership role in diversifying the outdoor space. 

We are seeking four Leaders for each region - four in Seattle, four in Portland. Each of the city's four Trail Mixed Leaders will commit to organizing and hosting 5+ community events per year which can range from anything from activities like informal ski and cycling meetups to brewery hangs to self-arrest practice and climbing skills, all based on the individual leader's interests and experiences. 

Expectations
  • Host 5+ events a year (e.g. Hike meet-up, mountain biking day, trail run, etc.)

  • Be responsible for event logistics, communications, and planning - with our support

  • Foster a welcoming, fun, and safe environment for participants

  • Attend Leader orientation and informal check-ins 

  • Serve as a Trail Mixed Collective representative and brand face/voice 

Requirements
  • Commit to a minimum of one year, when mutual revelation will occur

  • Strong organization, prompt and professional communications skills, positive and kind attitude

  • Woman of color - cis, non-binary, and transwomen of color

  • Reliable form of transportation

  • Ability to plan and work independently; preferred experience in being a reliable leader 

  • Knowledgeable about the region and terrain

  • Ability to use common sense when planning events, as well as when needed to make judgement calls regarding weather, participant ability, what to do in an emergency

  • Willingness to join orientations, check-in, etc. with Trail Mixed/other leaders 

**If you are a current run group leader, you are able to apply for this if interested in all of the details, including hosting 2 additional non-run events per year

If selected as a Trail Mixed Leader you will be listed on our website under our Leader team, play a major role in building access for women of color in the outdoors, receive a welcome gift and perks now and then, be automatically entered into giveaways exclusive to leaders, receive a swag bag at the successful completion of each year you serve as a Leader which will include gear and discounts based on your focus area sports from brands like Gossamer, Sawyer, HOKA, Weston, and more!​
